This maternity leave contract is all about execution. The marketing strategy is already in place — now it needs a capable, hands-on communications professional to bring it to life.

A key part of the role is raising the profile of a premium New Zealand wine brand across both local and international markets. You’ll manage communications with trade partners, support brand storytelling, and deliver consistent, high-quality output across all touch points. You’ll work closely with the winemaker — the face of the brand — becoming their right-hand person.

PR sits at the core of this role. With your 2–3 years’ experience, you’ll confidently write and distribute media releases, proactively pitch stories, and build strong relationships with key media. You’ll know how to generate meaningful exposure and position a brand in a competitive landscape.

Day to day, you’ll take ownership of communications and PR delivery — managing timelines, coordinating campaigns, attending events, and drafting and refining press materials. You’ll ensure everything aligns with existing brand standards and see projects through from concept to completion. You’ll be across the detail, making things happen.

You’ll be practical, proactive, and solutions-focused — comfortable juggling multiple moving parts while maintaining momentum. You’ll also bring a solid understanding of the wider communications mix and feel confident managing external suppliers and partners to ensure work is delivered on brand and on time.

We’re open to candidates from a range of sectors, although a passion for wine will be an advantage in this role.

This is a 4-day-per-week contract (either 4 full days or across 5 shorter days), based in Auckland or Marlborough, starting ASAP and running through to the end of September.
