Managing Director / General Manager (Brand Agency)
Reference #7330
Build an agency. Win the work. Leave your mark.
YOU
Our client is looking for an entrepreneurial, commercially sharp leader to establish and grow a newly created brand agency across Australasia. This isn't a role for someone looking to step into a fully established business. It's for someone who wants to build one.
Based in Sydney or Melbourne, you'll have the backing of a globally recognised business and the freedom to create something genuinely exciting. You'll set the commercial direction, shape the agency's reputation, build a high-performing team and establish a market-leading presence across Australasia.
At its core, this role is about business development. You'll be the person who opens doors, leverages an established network, and turns opportunities into long-term partnerships with senior decision-makers across the Australasian market.
Success won't be measured by how well you manage existing clients. It'll be measured by your ability to create opportunities where none exist, open doors that others can't and build lasting relationships that translate into commercial growth.
We're looking for someone who already has a strong profile in the Australian market. Someone whose name carries weight, who has an established network of senior decision-makers and who is genuinely energised by building relationships, winning work and creating new opportunities.
You'll come from a brand agency or consultancy background, where you've built a reputation for winning and growing new client relationships. Your client portfolio will be varied and may include professional services, property and development, finance, construction and retail, among others.
You'll be confident leading conversations in the boardroom, developing strategic partnerships, leading major pitches and helping clients solve complex business challenges through strategy, brand and design.
While new business is the priority, you'll also know what it takes to build a successful agency. You'll have commercial acumen, understand the realities of running a consultancy and know how to bring together strategy, creative thinking and client service to deliver outstanding outcomes. Commercial leadership will be second nature to you. Experience across business planning, forecasting, pricing, utilisation, and P&L management will be essential.
You'll also be a proven people leader. An established team of ten across Australia and New Zealand is already in place, backed by the resources and reach of the existing Australasian business. You'll be responsible for developing, mentoring and growing that capability as the agency evolves, creating a culture people want to be part of while helping shape the future structure and scale of the business.
Working closely with your existing team of creative, design and industry specialists, you'll ensure great thinking translates into commercially successful and impactful outcomes for your clients.
Regular travel across Australia and New Zealand will form part of the role as you build stronger connections across the agency locations and continue to grow your client base.
Above all, we're looking for someone who gets genuine satisfaction from building something from the ground up. Someone who thrives on winning work, creating opportunities, developing people and leaving a lasting mark on an agency's future.
THEM
Our client is a globally recognised business with an exceptional reputation for delivering meaningful work.
With an established presence across Australasia and a deeply collaborative culture, they are investing heavily in the future of their offering. You'll be joining at a pivotal moment, with the opportunity to shape the direction, culture and commercial success of the company while working alongside some of the region's most respected leaders.
The business offers flexible working, additional annual leave, wellbeing and medical support, bonus opportunities and genuine long-term career growth.
